Equipment for Performance Tests

Dialing-up environment

We recommend the user to use the highest possible speed Internet connection such as xDSL when using KNS. We made the connection tests for ISDN and analog modem. The results were basically good.
(We checked the operation with Internet connection services available in Japan.)

Service ISP Actual connection speed Modem Result Remarks
ISDN 64 kbps Nifty 64 kbps NEC Good Delay time was a bit longer than xDSL.
Analog 56 kbps Rimnet 50.0 kbps Winmodem built in laptop computer Good but troubled Delay time was a bit longer than xDSL. Little noise was mixed to voice. Voice communication is available (*).
Analog 33.6 kbps Rimnet 28.8 kbps Winmodem built in laptop computer Good but troubled Delay time was a bit longer than xDSL. Many noises were mixed to voice. Voice communication is available (*).

Conditions for checking operation:
The host PC (transmitting party) uses the Flet's ADSL 1.5 Mbps and BRL-04F router.
(*) We did not change a frequency while making a voice communication.

Note: "Good" means basically good, "Good but troubled" indicates little interrupts occurred, and "NG" indicates that voice communication is not available.
